Castrol Hysol 33 FF – Pail (5 Gal)

Castrol Hysol 33 FF is a high-performance semi-synthetic metalworking fluid designed for shops that need broad multi-metal capability from a single coolant. It is suitable for machining ferrous metals through aluminum alloys and can be used in both individual machine sumps and large central coolant systems.

Hysol 33 FF is a versatile choice for grinding, milling, turning, drilling and other machining operations. Castrol identifies grinding and general machining as core applications across cast iron, low- to medium-alloy steel, high-alloy steel, aluminum alloys and yellow metals. Drilling is a core application on cast iron, low- to medium-alloy steel, aluminum alloys and yellow metals, with high-alloy steel shown as a possible application. Reaming, tapping and broaching are also suitable for specified materials and applications.

The lubrication package is designed to help extend tool life and improve surface finish in both aluminum and ferrous machining. Good wetting characteristics help reduce coolant drag-out, which can mean cleaner machines and components and less coolant leaving the system on chips and parts.

Hysol 33 FF is also designed for extended fluid life and low-foam performance under the recommended water conditions. Its broad material and application range can make it a good candidate for shops looking to consolidate multiple machining coolants into one product. It is formulated without formaldehyde-releasing agents.

Recommended Concentrations

Recommended water range: 100–600 ppm CaCO₃.

Refractometer Factor: 1.5

Hysol 33 FF has a refractometer factor of 1.5. Multiply the refractometer reading by 1.5 to estimate the actual coolant concentration.

Example: A refractometer reading of 4.0 × 1.5 = approximately 6% concentration.
